It should come as no surprise that we sell more fireplaces in the winter months. After all, there’s nothing like an Arctic vortex to get everyone dreaming of cozying up to a fireplace. Many clients purchase their fireplaces when they are renovating, but renovations take time to plan and execute. What if you want a fireplace in a hurry, without the fuss of a full-blown renovation? That’s where a wall-mount fireplace comes in. A wall-mount fireplace is an electric fireplace that may be hung on the surface of the wall, without cutting into the wall or building out a new wall. In other words, there’s little or no construction involved. Wall-mount electric fireplaces are linear by design, and come in a range of sizes. Some wall-mount fireplaces are designed for surface-mounting only, while others may also be installed safely into the wall. Pro Tip: Always check the installation instructions before putting a wall-mount fireplace inside the wall. If the fireplace wasn’t designed for in-wall installation, it won’t function properly in the wall, and it may also be a fire hazard if improperly installed.

Modern Flames Landscape Pro Multi – LPM-4416, LPM-5616, LPM-6816, LPM-8016, LPM-9616
The LPM fireplaces may be installed as multi-sided or single-sided fireplaces, and may be surface-hung or installed into the wall. They offer full-spectrum colour in the flames, ember lights, and top lights. They may be wired for 120 or 240 volts; a 240-volt connection allows them to warm up an 800 square-foot area. Landscape Pro Multi wall-mount fireplaces come with Canyon driftwood logs, as well as clear and black crystals. Overall depth is 11.5 inches. Modern Flames offers a 5-year warranty on Landscape Pro Multi fireplaces.
Modern Flames Orion Multi – OR52-MULTI, OR60-MULTI, OR76-MULTI, OR100-MULTI, OR120-MULTI
Orion fireplaces feature Heliovision video flame projection. Like the Landscape Pro Multi fireplaces, above, the Orion Multi models may be installed as single-sided or multi-sided, in the wall or on the wall. Orion Multi is also dual-voltage, connecting to either 120 or 240 volts. Orion comes with Western Driftwood logs and crystals, as well as crackling sound effects. Overall depth is 9.5 inches and it has a 5-year warranty.
Symmetry Bespoke fireplaces are single-sided electric fireplaces that may be installed into the wall, or on the wall surface. They offer a choice of media packages, including premium logs and crystals. Flame colours are changeable, and coloured accent lights shine from above and below the media tray. Amantii’s Bespoke models also have crackling sound effects, and a 5-year warranty. Overall depth is 6 inches.
Multi-sided wall-mount fireplaces
In addition to the multi-sided multi-installation fireplaces noted above, there are a couple of slimmer multi-sided fireplaces that were purpose-built for hanging on the wall. This is further testament to the fact that you don’t have to sacrifice style to have a wall-mount fireplace.
Napoleon Trivista Pictura – NEFL50H-3SV, NEFL60H-3SV
Pictura wall-mount fireplaces have an overall depth of just 6.5 inches. They are made for surface-mounting ONLY, and may not be installed any other way. With this in mind, Pictura fireplaces are finished on all sides, with no unsightly screws or labels visible. The front glass tilts back from the bottom, to provide space for a hidden heat grille that blows warm air over the glass and into the room. There are 3 flame colours, as well as ember colours and top-lights. Clear crystals are standard, but driftwood and birch log kits are available options. Pictura fireplaces plug into a regular 120-volt outlet, or they may be hard-wired.
Napoleon Astound Flexmount – NEFL50AB, NEFL62AB, NEFL74AB
The Astound Flexmount was modelled after it’s larger cousin, the Astound built-in. Flexmount offers large logs, an extra-tall viewing glass, and the same rich flame colours as the Astound built-in, but in a 7.125 inch depth. Flexmount has several installation options, including wall-mount. It also has glass on the ends, for a pleasing view from any angle. This is a dual-voltage wall-mount fireplace, so it may be connected to 120 or 240 volts, with a heating range of 400 to 800 square feet.
Wall-mount fireplaces with cabinets
If you need the convenience and space-savings of a wall-mount fireplace, with the presence of a cabinet, you could choose to have a custom cabinet made for the Modern Flames Orion Multi or LPM fireplaces noted above. If that’s not in the budget, there’s another option.
Napoleon Stylus Cara – NEFP32-5019W-IOT
The black and white Cara cabinet features a 32-inch firebox with ice crystals and birch logs. There’s also a display shelf with its own light, as well as a charging port for mobile devices. This is a WiFi-enabled device, like most new electric fireplaces, with a unique date and weather display on the back glass above the fireplace. This digital display may be turned on or off. Cara plugs into a regular 120-volt outlet, and may also be hard-wired. It has a fully-functional heater, as well as multi-coloured flames and ember lights.
Extra-slim wall-mount fireplaces
If you’re tight on space, and want a wall-mount fireplace that sticks out as little as possible, you will soon discover that there are lots of linear electric fireplaces that are 5.5 to 6 inches deep, including the Amantii Symmetry noted above. However, there is also a very small group of extra-slim 4-inch deep fireplaces that are ideal for hanging on the wall.
Modern Flames Spectrum Slimline – SPS-50B, SPS-60B, SPS-74B
Spectrum Slimline is just 4.75 inches deep, including the front trim. In spite of its slim exterior, it comes complete with crystals and logs, and features 10 flame colours, 10 ember colours, and a thermostatically controlled heater.
Electrical considerations for wall-mount fireplaces
All of our wall-mount fireplaces have heaters. Ideally, they should be wired as if you are going to use the heater, which would require a dedicated circuit breaker for the fireplace. Whether you choose to plug-in or hardwire the unit, the maximum heat settings will max out the wattage available on the circuit. Pro Tip: If you aren’t able to run a new, dedicated electrical line, you can test your existing electrical line before connecting a fireplace. Simply plug in a 1500 watt hair dryer, or space heater, and see if the power goes out when you hit the highest setting. If it does, you will be limited in how you use the heater on your fireplace. Always consult a licensed electrician for help with electrical wiring.
