How to Summer-ize your fireplace — CanadaAM with Karl Lohnes
On Thursday, May 17, Decor Expert and CanadaAM regular contributor, Karl Lohnes, featured 3 of our fireplaces in his segment. View the video here.
CityLine is Grillin’
On Tuesday, May 15, one of our Dimplex PowerChef electric grills was featured on CityLine. Chef Michael Bonacini, of Oliver & Bonacini, cooked up some delicious summer dishes, including Cedar-planked Nachos and Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Quesadillas, with the help of Chef Jason Parsons of Peller Estates Winery. At the show’s taping, we gave away a PowerChef TBQ-120 Deluxe grill — the same model the chefs were using — to lucky audience member Judy Scott. Here’s the happy winner with the chefs, and the grill. Habitat for Humanity — Women Build
Habitat for Humanity offers needy families a hand up, not a hand out. We have long supported their work, and Jeanne has volunteered as part of the Women In Construction (WINC) team, to be a part of the Women Build taking place in Toronto from May 1 – 12, 2012. Now she needs sponsors to help her to reach her fundraising goal. If you would like to help, please go to her personal fundraising page and make a donation. Thank you!

In order to bring you the most up-to-date fireplace products, we make a point of visiting trade shows, like TCHFM. There were several exciting products unveiled at the show; we’ll be sharing them in our email newsletter. Jeanne also took part in several Trade-only events, and met design gurus Kimberley Seldon and Janette Ewen.
CityLine TV Appearances:
Monday, December 12
On December 5, we got a sneak peek at a live taping of CityLine. Benjamin Moore’s Leigh Ann Allaire worked her holiday magic around our Classic Flame Artesian fireplace, then we gave it away to a lucky audience member. If you missed it, you can watch it here http://video.citytv.com/video/detail/1322461575001.000000/cozy-cabin-decor–dec-12-2011/
Wednesday, December 21– 2nd Base Youth Shelter Makeover Project
We were pleased to make a fireplace donation to the 2nd Base Youth Shelter Makeover Project. Designer Karen Sealy, of Sealy Design Inc., in cooperation with WINC (Women IN Construction) and CityLine TV, took on the challenge of giving this Scarborough shelter (www.secondbase.ca) a much-needed facelift. The completed makeover was featured on CityLine on December 21. We hope you will check it out and think about lending your support, too. http://video.citytv.com/video/detail/1328766829001.000000/Second-Base-Shelter-Makeover-Dec-21-2011/
